Sony knew of battery problems last December

Sony was aware that some of their batteries were seriously overheating, but didn’t investigate any further, or attempt to fix the problem at the time, according to a Japanes newspaper, as reported by SMH.  It would appear that if they had have done something about it then, the huge recall, and accompany losses, mightn’t have eventuated.


Now Fujitsu recalls Sony batteries

It now looks like every company using batteries made by Sony is recalling those batteries.  Fujitsu is the latest to joing the list, recalling 287,000 batteries

That means that Apple, Dell, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Lenovo and IBM notebooks have all had Sony battery recalls.

Lenovo and IBM notebook PCs join the list of Sony-made battery recalls.  That brings to more than 6 million batteries recalled, including in computers made by Dell and Apple.

Now Apple recalls Sony batteries

When we heard of Dell recalling Sony batteries, we wondered how many other companies’ computers were being affected.  Now we hear that Apple is recalling 1.8 million batteries, in the older G4 iBook and Powerbook.  Sony expects that the recall (of the Dell and Apple batteries) will cost them $172-258 million.
